WinTaper Pitfalls
If you don't fint it here, check the Known Bugs page
Problem: WinHelp reports "Not a Windows Help File"
Explanation: This happens on 16-bit Windows if winhlp32.exe isn't installed. Some earlier versions of the Win32s library do not include support for 32-bit help files.
Solution: Download Win32s version 1.30 from the WinTaper web site. This version of Win32s supports WinHelp 4.0
Problem: With large files, not all my tapes appear in the main window
Explanation: This happens on 16-bit Windows, which has a 64K limit on the amount of data it can display in a listbox.
Solution: Limit the number of columns you are trying to display. You can select the columns to view by choosing File | Preferences from the main menu then clicking on the Listboxes button. If this doesn't work you can use a filter to limit the "active" data or break your large .wtf file up into several smaller files.
Problem: I cannot run both the Label Editor and WinTaper simultaneously
Explanation: This happens on 16-bit Windows. You cannot run both because the two programs share the same DLL files. This is a limitation of Win32s.
Solution: None, really. You need to upgrade to Windows95 or Windows NT.
Problem: Hearing that "Welcome" and "Thanks" everytime is annoying
Explanation: Sorry, I thought it was cute. To each his own.
Solution: Delete the .wav files from the WinTaper\Sounds folder or better still copy your own .wav files into that folder and rename them welcome.wav and thanks.wav for a customized greeting.
